Learn More About Summit at Knoxville’s Facility
Choosing a place for healing is about more than just a program; it’s about finding a safe, supportive, and conducive environment where profound change can take root. At Summit at Knoxville, our facility is meticulously designed to be that sanctuary. In this place, patients can focus entirely on their recovery journey, surrounded by compassionate care and the tranquility of East Tennessee. Located at 1016 Ic King Rd, Seymour, TN 37865, our center provides the ideal setting for intensive addiction and mental health treatment.
Our Healing Environment: Features & Amenities Designed for Recovery
Every aspect of Summit at Knoxville is thoughtfully planned to support your well-being and progress. Our facility is a modern, two-story building that houses both our medical detoxification and residential treatment services, ensuring a seamless transition between levels of care.
- Comfortable & Structured Housing: We offer 48 total beds, with housing carefully separated by gender and level of care to foster a focused and secure environment. Room assignments are based on age range and gender. While some rooms are located on the second floor, please note that for the safety and well-being of all patients, we cannot accommodate those with significant mobility issues or handicaps, as all patients must be ambulatory.
- Conducive Living Spaces: Patient rooms are designed to minimize distractions, serving as restful sanctuaries rather than entertainment hubs; therefore, individual rooms have no TVs. Televisions are available in common areas, encouraging patients to engage in group activities, connect with peers, and focus on their therapeutic work.
- 24/7 Medical & Clinical Oversight: Your safety and comfort are paramount. Our facility provides round-the-clock monitoring and support. A dedicated medical team, including licensed nurses and nurse practitioners, is always on-site, ready to respond to any needs. Our physician is available weekly and as needed for direct medical oversight.
- Nourishing Meals by On-Site Chef: We believe physical nourishment is fundamental to mental and emotional recovery. Our talented on-site chef prepares three nutritious, balanced meals daily, ensuring patients receive the proper fuel for their healing journey. Community snacks are also available. All dietary restrictions must be communicated during the Pre-Admission Assessment (PAA) to ensure your needs are met. You can learn more about the role of nutrition in recovery on our Nutritional Counseling page.
- Recreation & Wellness: Healing extends beyond therapy sessions. Our facility offers opportunities for healthy physical activity and connection:
- Enjoy daily outdoor basketball, fostering teamwork and physical release.
- Participate in guided morning hikes every day. These hikes allow you to connect with nature and engage in mindful movement amidst East Tennessee’s scenic beauty.
- (Please note: There is no gym onsite; our focus is on outdoor, natural recreational engagement.)
- Communication Policy for Focused Healing: To ensure patients can fully immerse themselves in treatment without undue distraction, specific communication policies are in place:
- Phone Use: There is an initial 5-day phone blackout period for detox patients, and an additional 5-day blackout for residential patients. After these periods, monitored phone calls are permitted. Family calls are available every other day at 5:00 PM, with a 10-minute duration, allowing for structured connection. Cell phones are generally not permitted unless specifically approved by the clinical team to minimize distractions.
- Family Visits: In-person family visits are not allowed during treatment to maintain a focused therapeutic environment. However, we facilitate weekly Zoom calls every Sunday, ensuring families remain an integral part of the recovery process.
- Offsite Passes/Curfew: Patients cannot leave the facility during treatment; no offsite passes are provided, as our residential model emphasizes a contained and secure environment for intensive therapy.
- Pharmacy Services: We partner with PharMerica (3588 Workman Rd, Knoxville, TN 37921; Phone: 865-558-8733) for efficient and safe medication needs.
A Sanctuary in Nature: The Beauty and Climate of East Tennessee
Our location in Seymour, TN, offers a unique advantage for healing, immersing patients in the natural beauty of East Tennessee. The region is known for its rolling hills, lush forests, and proximity to the majestic Great Smoky Mountains, providing a tranquil backdrop for recovery.
- Four Distinct Seasons: East Tennessee enjoys a diverse climate, offering unique beauty throughout the year:
- Spring (March-May): Mild temperatures (50s-70s°F / 10-20s°C) bring vibrant wildflowers and blooming trees, ideal for outdoor activities like our guided hikes.
- Summer (June-August): Warm and humid (80s-90s°F / 27-32°C), perfect for enjoying outdoor basketball and the lush green landscape.
- Fall (September-November): Crisp air and breathtaking fall foliage (50s-70s°F / 10-20s°C) create a serene and picturesque environment conducive to reflection and walking.
- Winter (December-February): Generally mild, with occasional cold snaps (30s-50s°F / 0-10s°C) and light snowfall, winter offers a quiet, introspective atmosphere.
The calming influence of nature, combined with opportunities for outdoor activity, significantly supports the therapeutic process, helping patients connect with themselves and find peace.
